As Pro Vice-Chancellor (Monash South Africa), Professor Ron Weber is responsible for:

  • helping Monash South Africa further embrace its role in the development of South African society
  • developing the campus into a world-class teaching and research facility

Professional background

Weber has an outstanding record of academic leadership and a strong background in higher education management.

Before commencing as Pro Vice-Chancellor (Monash South Africa) in 2013, he was Dean, Faculty of Information Technology, Monash University. Previously, he was Professor of Information Systems in the School of Business and Research Director for the Faculty of Business, Economics and Law at the University of Queensland.

Academic interests

Ron graduated with first-class honors and a University Medal in Accounting from the University of Queensland. He has an MBA and a PhD in Management Information Systems at the University of Minnesota.

Ron has taught and researched in the information systems and accounting areas, and he has published extensively in both Australian and international journals. He has also consulted widely on information systems matters, especially the control and audit of computer systems. Many students and practitioners use his book, Information Systems Control and Audit, internationally.
