in July. The Chambers provide postgraduate law students with

The
magic of speech technology
Kim Silverman
Apple's Principal Research Scientist Kim Silverman (BSc
1978) returned
to Monash last month to give students and alumni insights
into Apple's
approach in managing the path from research to product development.
Silverman, who in his spare time is President of the Society
of American
Magicians (Palo Alto chapter), demonstrated Apple's latest
technologies
in speech recognition and speech synthesis. <more

The crest makes a comeback
The Monash University crest is making a comeback as
part of a comprehensive overhaul of university communications.
Commenting on the crest's return, Vice-Chancellor Professor Peter Darvall said "the crest
represents our history and our mission – our founders'
aspirations and our place as a high-quality teaching and
research institution." The new look is being gradually rolled
out from this month.
Online research database access for alumni
Monash alumni around the world are able to access Proquest
online databases as part of a six-month trial that commenced last month. The databases offer full-text research materials from a broad range
of disciplines including business, law, sciences, medicine,
social sciences, education, pharmacy and engineering. <more

New scholarships for high achieving students
Monash is aiming to attract Australia's highest achieving
Year 12 students under a new scholarship scheme for 2004.

A free public lecture and symposium, 'Tomorrow's People: how
21st century technology is changing the way we think and

Musical on anti-Nazi movement tours
