The Disability Liasion Unit would like to thank all students who responded to the 2011 annual survey. We are currently analysing the data received and will be providing a response later in 2012.
Leaders for tomorrow program
Applications are now open for the third intake of participants for the Leaders for Tomorrow Program, an individual leadership development program which has been funded by the Australian Government Department of Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs to develop the leadership capacity of people with disability.
The program is targeted at people who aspire to be leaders or further develop their current leadership capacity. At the end of the funding period it is expected that there will be 200 people with disability who are more skilled, more confident and more active in leadership roles in business, community, government or their chosen area of interest.
Participants will have up to 12 months access to training, coaching, mentoring and other leadership development opportunities based on their individual needs. People with a broad range of skill levels and leadership interests are encouraged to apply. The program is committed to including a variety of participants reflecting the diversity of the Australian community. The Leaders for Tomorrow program will be delivered nationally by NSW Consumer Support and Training Project (Hunter TAFE) and E-QUAL (Enhancing Quality).

Access to AAA venue Caulfield Racecourse
For those students sitting exams in the Alternative Arrangements for Assessment (AAA) venue at Caulfield this is a reminder about access to the Racecourse and the Talbot Room.
Lift access is available if required for students registered with the Disability Liaison Unit. For assistance on the day or directions to the lift please contact the Exams Helpdesk on the ground level or the Disability Liaison Unit.
Accessible parking bays are available for those with valid permits free of charge in the Kambrook Road end car park.
Students with restricted mobility who require direct access to the front of the building are advised to consult with their Disability Liaison Officer.
PEERS Program- Call for participants and volunteers
The PEERS program is an initiative that complements services provided by the Disability Liaison Unit (DLU). The program matches students registered with the DLU with suitable student volunteers for regular meetings throughout semester.
PEERS volunteers can provide a wide range of assistance including accompanying students to social events, mobility and navigation around the campus and help seeking support from various Monash services. Volunteers are trained and supported by the Disability Liaison Unit.
If you are registered with the DLU and would be like to register your interest in being matched with a student volunteer please complete the expression of interest.
If you are interested in volunteering please complete the application form.We encourage students registered with the DLU to apply as volunteers to support other students.
Arts Student Connnected program launched
An initiative of Health and Wellbeing, the Faculty of Arts, and the Disability Liaison Unit, this program aims to support Arts students with mental health conditions. The program connects students with help and advice at the right time to maximise their prospects of a positive learning experience.
If you wish to be part of the program, please contact your Disability Liaison Officer who will arrange for the Arts faculty counsellor, Mio Ihashi, to meet with you early in the semester to discuss your situation and provide you with information about a range of services and staff that might be helpful to you at different stages of the academic year. The program will help you identify strategies for success and ways to get through the stressful times as well as providing information about how, when and where to get help at the University.
