Notetaking service
What is it?
Qualifying students are assigned notetakers to attend classes and provide a written summary as required. The notes taken may be provided in handwritten or electronic format.
Who is eligible?
Students who:
- are registered with the Disability Liaison Unit (DLU); and
- have provided documentation from an appropriate health professional specifically supporting their request for a notetaking service.
How do I apply?
Contact the Disability Liaison Unit.
What are my responsibilities once I receive the service?
Before semester
- forward your timetable to your Disability Liaison Officer (DLO) well before the beginning of semester. A provisional or incomplete timetable is acceptable if your official timetable is not yet released.
During semester
- advise the DLU directly of any timetable changes as they occur.
- attend all classes in which a notetaker is assigned.
- advise the DLU if you cannot attend class with at least 24 hours notice.
If you miss too many classes without providing sufficient notice, your notetaking service may be withdrawn.
Before class
- bring pens and paper for your notetaker to use in class.
- provide your notetaker with copies of any class materials (handouts, powerpoint slides, pre-posted lecture notes etc).
- inform your lecturer or tutor that you will be using a notetaker
After class
- you cannot distribute the notes to others without prior consent from the DLU
