Defer/Absent from ceremony
Graduating in absentia
A student is not required to attend a ceremony in order to
graduate. He/she may graduate in absentia, ie. not attend the
ceremony, but their name and
degree are conferred at the appropriate faculty ceremony.
Those wishing to graduate in absentia must complete an
application form and submit it accordance with the normal deadlines.
Students graduating in absentia are sent, by registered post, their
certificate of award (testamur) and a copy of their academic transcript within three weeks
after the
ceremony date.
Deferring graduation
A written statement of your intention to defer your graduation is
required. Your Application to Graduate will then be deferred to the next
semester's graduation for your faculty.
