Music Publishing and Book Selling in Australia : Selections
from the Monash University Library Collection
This exhibition was developed in conjunction with a day long seminar,
Music publishing and book selling in Australia held at Monash University
Library, Victoria - Friday 17 November 2000.
The exhibition was chosen from the Music and Rare Books Collections
of Monash University to represent the music printing and selling
activities of Australia in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. The
scores and books range from the early published works of Isaac Nathan in
the 1840s; representative works of publishers including E W Cole,
Allans, Editions de L'Oiseau-Lyre and Rams Skull Press; to the music
scores of Henry Handel Richardson, recently discovered and published by
Currency Press in 2000.
