Monash University Council this week decided that HECS charges from 2005 would be set at the maximum levels for most courses, but allowed the university to set lower fees for some courses that are taught only at its regional and outer urban campuses.
Some research honours programs will also benefit from lower fees in the light of the Council decision.

Monash's Accident Research Centre (MUARC) has entered into a historic agreement with United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) to establish the UAE Research Centre for Transportation and Traffic Safety at the university's main campus in Al Ain.
MUARC chair of road safety Professor Brian Fildes said MUARC would assist the UAEU to set up the cross-faculty research institute, provide training for accident investigators, supply equipment for conducting crash inspections and monitor the process and quality of data received on road crashes.

Biochemical and environmental engineering expert Professor Ian Prince is the new head of the School of Engineering and Science at Monash University Malaysia.
In his new role, Professor Prince says he aims to strengthen and consolidate the university's existing undergraduate engineering courses, explore new undergraduate teaching opportunities and facilitate the growth of emerging research activities, particularly through collaboration with Malaysian industry. |
