The second vice-chancellor's Excellence and Diversity Luncheon for 2004 was held last week to acknowledge general and academic staff who have made significant and long-term contributions to the academic and general excellence of the university.
The monthly lunches are designed to bring leading Monash staff together to discuss their roles at the university as well as workplace issues ranging from research challenges to balancing work and family.

Monash University Malaysia's pro vice-chancellor Professor Merilyn Liddell recently swapped her business suit for jeans to spend a day on campus as an undergraduate.
Her itinerary was designed by the students to represent a normal day in their lives.

Monash's School of Information Management and Systems head, Professor Sue McKemmish, has been appointed Australia's first chair in archival systems.
Information Technology faculty dean Professor Ron Weber said Professor McKemmish's appointment was in recognition of her national and international standing in the discipline. |
