Australia's chief scientist Dr Robin Batterham last month visited the site of the Australian Synchrotron at Monash and the Monash Science and Technology Research and Innovation Precinct (STRIP) at the university's Clayton campus.
Dr Batterham (pictured) was escorted by Biomedical Sciences school head Professor Warwick Anderson; deputy vice-chancellor (research) Professor Edwina Cornish; Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences dean Professor Ed Byrne; associate dean (biotechnology), Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences, Professor David de Kretser; Monash Centre for Synchrotron Science director Professor Rob Lewis; and Monash STRIP executive director Dr Elane Zelcer.

An academic in the Accounting and Finance department in the Faculty of Business and Economics has been presented with a Securities Institute of Australia 'significant contribution' award.
Associate Professor Keryn Chalmers received the award on 12 May for many years' service as an outstanding practitioner in the institute's education program.

A major overhaul of the Monash University Timetable System (MUTTS) is starting to provide students and staff with a centralised, comprehensive and clash-free timetable and class allocation system.
Timetable Systems, a new unit within the Staff and Student Services division, was formed earlier this year to oversee and implement the innovative system, said Timetable Systems manager Ms Satya Webster. |
