Monash alumni Ms Catherine McGowan and Dr Brenda Niall have been named Officers in the Order of Australia (AO) in the 2004 Queen's Birthday Honours. The women were among 16 members of the Monash community to receive honours in this year's list.

Centre for Learning and Teaching Support (CeLTS) director Professor John Harris has retired from Monash after 27 years' distinguished service. Farewell functions to mark the occasion were held recently at Clayton and Gippsland campuses.

Monash has been awarded full Waste Wise accreditation for its efforts in ‘reducing, reusing and recycling' waste.
The certificate of accreditation was presented to vice-chancellor Professor Richard Larkins last week by City of Monash mayor Councillor Joy Banerji.
