The Centre of Policy Studies (CoPS) has appointed Professor Philip Adams as its new director. Professor Adams has
been working with CoPS since 1991, most recently as its director of consulting. He is also the Australian coordinator
for the Economic Outlook taskforce of the Pacific Economic Cooperation group.

Monash is looking to offer distance education in the US after being alerted to potential new markets. IDP US/Canada has identified a potential for Australian universities to provide distance-learning programs to US military veterans and active personnel.

As part of Monash's community engagement, vice-chancellor Professor Richard Larkins hosted a lunch recently for secondary school leaders. The lunch, part of the monthly Excellence and Diversity Luncheon series, provided the guests with an opportunity to discuss issues affecting higher education with the vice-chancellor.
