Monash Science Centre lecture -- 'Can you say that again?'March 9 2005 'Learning to understand speech in noisy environments', presented by Monash Science Centre guest speaker Associate Professor Ramesh Rajan. When: Thursday 17 March, 7pm We communicate to each other in a world where there is constant hubbub and noise from other people talking, the TV, music and traffic. Think of the 'cocktail party problem', where we try to concentrate on the voice of the person we are talking to in the midst of a number of other conversations going on in the background. Associate Professor Rajan has been studying our ability with this task, and has found that even adults can be trained to improve. In this talk, Associate Professor Rajan will demonstrate this and discuss some of the factors that impact on this. To register contact extn 51370 or email helen.rayner@sci.monash.edu.au.
