Top science students recognised

High-achieving students from the Faculty of Science were recognised at a series of morning teas at the Clayton campus last week.

Science dean Professor Rob Norris welcomed 54 first-year students who had received an ENTER of more than 95 at a gathering in the Monash Club on Thursday.

"From these ranks will come the next wave of research students, and we are here to help, support and care for you throughout your studies," Professor Norris said.

"There is a growing need for science graduates across all fields, and when you enter the employment market, it will be rich in opportunities," he said.

On Friday, 100 high-achieving students were welcomed into the Dean's List Fellowship as recognition of their outstanding academic performance.

Admission to the Dean's List gives students the flexibility to cope with a more rigorous program of study than is usually permitted, access to a mentor to assist with academic progress and the ability to attend special functions and seminars.

Only students who have achieved high distinctions and distinctions are eligible for consideration for the Dean's List Fellowship.
