Celebrating 50 years of hockey at Monash

Director of Monash Sport, Martin Doulton, with Club President Trenton Milner
Monash University Hockey Club, founded the same year students first attended classes at Clayton campus, has recently celebrated its 50th Anniversary.
Past and current players celebrated the milestone at an official ceremony held in conjunction with Monash Sport, Monash University and Hockey Victoria.
The feature of the day was the presentation of a 50th year commemorative plaque.
Monash Sport Director Martin Doulton said it was a great privilege to receive the plaque on behalf of the University.
“Getting to such a milestone in the Club’s history is no small achievement. It has been a journey of development, growth and excitement that the University has shared and supported along the way," said Mr Doulton.
"Congratulations to the current Club committee, volunteers and players for their efforts on a day to day, week by week, and season on season basis to ensure that the Monash University Hockey Club continues to play a valuable and ongoing part in the university experience for so many students, staff and graduates.
"May the Club go from strength to strength during its next 50 years!"
Further celebrations will be held over the next few months with a family day on Saturday 27 August, 2011 and a cocktail party on Saturday 10 September, 2011.
