A celebration of art and design

Art and Design

The creative works of more than 250 final year students from Monash University’s Faculty of Art & Design will feature in the 2011 Monash University Art & Design Graduand Show.

From 21 November – 2 December, every spare room, corridor and gallery within the Faculty will be transformed into exhibition space for the annual event, which has been held at Caulfield for over a decade. This is the final step before the graduating students embark on their professional careers.

The event will showcase the extraordinary and varied skills of graduands across ten diverse studios; glass; metals & jewellery; painting; photomedia; printmedia; sculpture; industrial design; multimedia & digital arts; visual communication; and interior architecture.

Showcasing everything from paintings, installations and sound pieces, to models, animations, books and other printed materials, the exhibition is as diverse as it is visually and intellectually stimulating.

According to the Dean of the Faculty of Art & Design, Professor Shane Murray, the exhibition is the culmination of many years of hard work by the students.

“I am thrilled that we can showcase the tremendous efforts of our graduating students in such a first class exhibition. The event is a testament to the creativity and dedication of the students, as well as faculty staff,” Professor Murray said.

“We are extremely proud of our new graduands who have produced an exhibition of depth and diversity, which is conceptually rich and visually strong. Their work shows both complexity and sophistication and we look forward to following their careers as they shape the future of art and design.”

The Faculty of Art & Design is one of Australia’s leading educators in art and design; it is a place of excellence and innovation, offering courses that are professional, flexible and relevant.

The exhibition will be open from 10am – 6pm weekdays at the Faculty of Art & Design, Caulfield campus buildings D, E and G, 900 Dandenong Road Caulfield East.
