“The on-going improvements to the results each year re-enforce the commitment and dedication to the highest level of academic performance by Monash staff,” Professor Byrne said.
"Although international rankings are only one way of measuring what we do, the consistent improvement in our standing is a welcome recognition of the wonderful results we are achieving in research and education.”
ARWU has been presenting the world top 500 universities annually since 2003, based on a set of objective indicators and third-party data.
ARWU uses six indicators to rank universities, including the number of alumni and staff winning Nobel Prizes and Fields Medals, number of Highly Cited researchers, number of articles published in the journals of Nature and Science, number of articles indexed in Science Citation Index - Expanded and Social Science Citation Index, and per capita performance.
More than 1200 universities were ranked by ARWU in 2014 and the top 500 are published.
