New scholarship fund established

The Monash community was deeply saddened to hear that Dr Marie-Faith Fiawoo, a Monash staff member (postdoc Research Fellow) in the Department of Materials Engineering, was tragically killed in the wall collapse in Carlton in late March.
Dr Fiawoo was 33 years old and in Melbourne on a work visa from France. She had been working in the Faculty of Engineering for Professor Jianfeng Nie for the past two and a half years. Her position was funded by Rio Tinto Alcan in Canada. Until her untimely death, her research was focused on "Microstructural Characteristics of Precipitates in Aluminium extrusion alloys using high resolution TEM (Transmission Electron Microscopy)".
A scholarship fund to support students in Engineering and University-wide has been established in memory of Dr Fiawoo and to recognise her contribution to the University.
Funds raised will support a range of student scholarships and initiatives in the Faculty of Engineering including the Leadership program, Women in Engineering bursaries. Donations will also support student participation in international opportunities including travel scholarships.
Visit the Alumni donation page to find out more about how to contribute.
