Indonesian Minister welcomed
Mr Hadi Sapto Pambrastoro, Acting Consul General for Indonesia in Melbourne, Professor Rae Frances, Professor Owen Hughes, Professor Armida Alisjahbana, Mr Bas Koesasi, and Professor Stephen King
The State Minister for National Development Planning in Indonesia and head of the National Planning and Development Body (Bappenas), Professor Armida Alisjahbana, met with senior staff and academics in the faculties of Arts and Business and Economics during a visit to Monash University.
Professor Alisjahbana has visited Monash University on several occasions. She and her team at the Center for Economics and Development Studies at Universitas Padjadjaran, Bandung, West Java, visited the Centre of Policy Studies a few years ago during the development of the INDOTERM CGE model of the Indonesian and West Java economies. The model studies the national and regional (West Java) impacts of economic policies.
Professor Alisjahbana was the first dean of the Faculty of Economics, Padjadjaran University, Bandung and chair of the Department of Economics and Development Studies.
She obtained a B.A. in Economics from the University of Indonesia, an M.A. in Economics from Northwestern University, and a PhD in Economics from the University of Washington.
She has been involved in numerous research projects funded by, among others, UNDP, the World Bank and AusAID, both at home and overseas. She is the president of the Indonesian Regional Science Association.
