The Monash Motorsport team has landed in Europe to compete at the prestigious Formula Students UK and Formula Students Germany competitions.

The team will be representing Monash University and their sponsors in the overseas competition, following their third consecutive win at the Formula Society of Automotive Engineers (F-SAE) competition in Australia.

Formula Students UK and Formula Students Germany are international design competitions involving some of the world’s best F-SAE teams.

The F-SAE championship race car, the M11, that the team has spent the last year developing and refining will be showcased at the overseas competitions.

The Monash team, who are the only Australian team competing in the Formula Student UK competition, will have the opportunity to race on Silverstone circuit, which is home to the British Grand Prix. The team will also be competing against elite teams from over 20 different countries in Germany.

Teams compete in a number of different categories that test both their on track and off track skills. To be successful, teams are required to showcase their innovative designs, technical and business skills.

The competitions are divided into two components including the dynamic events and static events. In the dynamic events, the cars are tested on their performance in acceleration, skid pad, autocross and endurance. The static events involve the design, cost and business presentation.

Formula Students UK will be held at Silverstone Circuit from 13-15 July and Formula Students Germany will be held at Hockenheimring from 31 July until 5 August.
