The anxious wait is now over for more than 50,000 students waiting on their VCE results.

For many who might be unsure as to what tertiary course they want to undertake in 2013, it will be an opportunity to revisit their preferences. Some might not have achieved high enough ATAR scores for their preferred course, while others might have done better than expected and can investigate different options too.

Monash University is holding a Change of Preference Expo tomorrow to assist VCE students with questions on course options, scholarships, entry requirements, fees and costs, and alternative entry pathways.

The Expo gives future students the opportunity to talk to experts from all of the University’s faculties before settling on their final list of preferences.

Journalism student and Expo Student Ambassador Annie Louey said she was truly proud of what she has achieved in her first year of her course, since choosing Monash as her first preference in a Bachelor of Journalism.

“Although the workload was a significant step up from high school, it made me aware that I was capable of achieving more,” Annie said.

“I found more time and opportunities to unwind and socialise; new students will be surprised at how easy it is to find friends, support and a sense of belonging at Monash.”

Annie recommends students attending the Change of Preference Expo think seriously about the upcoming year.

“Make decisions for yourself, because Monash University is about you,” Annie said.

Fellow Student Ambassador Luke Kleinig said he was also happy he had chosen Monash as his first preference to study medicine.

“My first year at Monash has been great for many reasons, meeting new people, living away from home, and studying some pretty cool content,” Luke said.

“You should come into the year expecting to make a whole bunch of new friends, but to do that you have to put yourself out there, be prepared to go up to people you don't know and have a chat.

“Being at Monash has been very hectic with classes, assignments and exams, as well as social events, but I am really pleased I chose to come to Monash – it has met all my expectations.”

The Monash Change of Preference Expo will be held on Wednesday 19 December between 3 – 7pm in Building H at the University’s Caulfield campus (Melways ref: Map 68 F1).

Faculty Information sessions will be held between 3 – 6.30pm.
