New academy opens doors to education of the future
The new Monash Education Academy will inspire and promote teaching excellence.
Launching in March 2015, the academy will be open to the Monash community and will promote effective learning and teaching through collaboration, innovation, sharing and advocacy.
Led by talented educators from across the university, it will work to strengthen Monash’s commitment to providing students with an outstanding learning experience.
Provost and Senior Vice-President Professor Edwina Cornish, describes this new collegial endeavour as an exciting opportunity to celebrate teaching at Monash.
“The academy will help to support the delivery of the education of the future. I hope that all those involved in learning and teaching will see the academy as a centre of inspiration and exploration,” Professor Cornish said.
Training and mentoring initiatives which support educators in their responses to the changing needs of students will be unveiled in the new year. Fresh opportunities for career progression and recognition will also be announced.
The development of the academy is currently guided by a taskforce with representatives from all faculties. However, in March 2015 the academy will be led by a new steering group with funding from the Office of the Vice-Provost (Learning and Teaching).
