A positive experience at last year’s Open Day has inspired Sophie Chilcott to become an ambassador to help potential students get the most out of this year’s Monash Open Day.

Sophie, one of 100 Open Day Student Ambassadors across Monash University’s six Victorian campuses, will be on hand to help prospective students and their families make the most of the many activities on offer at Open Day.

“My Open Day visits were memorable because of the people I met and the course advice I received,” Sophie said.

“I was able to walk around all the Monash campuses and get the feel for what university life would be like.”

“I hope I can pass on my positive experiences of studying at the Berwick campus to all the prospective students I meet.”

Sophie’s tips for getting the best out of Open Day are to check out everything – courses, facilities, clubs, parking, transport options – as students will be spending a lot of time at the university  throughout their course; and talk to as many people, both staff and students as possible.

“I recommend people visit the Monash Open Day website where they can create their own personalised program, especially if they want to visit multiple campuses,” Sophie said.

“This way they can get the most out of their day.”

Sophie is currently undertaking the Diploma of Tertiary Studies (DoTS) at the Berwick campus. She is looking forward to completing her diploma at the end of the year and starting her Bachelor of Education (P-10) in 2013.

Visitors to Open Day can identify Student Ambassadors like Sophie by their unmistakable blue Student Ambassador uniform.
