Program supports research excellence of female academics

The 2016 Advancing Womens Research Success Grant program is open to early to mid-career researchers at Monash.
Applications are being sought for the University’s 2016 Advancing Women’s Research Success Grant program.
The program targets early to mid-career researchers at Monash who are primary caregivers.
The grant was introduced four years ago, recognising the impact that career breaks and caring responsibilities can have on women’s research outputs.
The grant program aims to break down these barriers that could potentially derail promising careers by assisting eligible women to maintain their research success momentum.
Provost and Senior Vice-President Professor Edwina Cornish said the grant program supported the University’s long-standing commitment to gender diversity and to increasing the number of women in senior academic roles.
“The Advancing Women’s Research Success Grant program supports the retention of successful female academics and their continuing contribution to the University,” Professor Cornish said.
“This is an important funding initiative that enables grant awardees to strengthen their research profile at a critical time in their careers when their academic success is challenged by intense caring responsibilities.”
Eligible applicants can seek up to $11,000 towards a range of research activities, including research assistance, research travel, collaboration and professional development. Awardees can use up to $2000 of their grant to cover costs associated with extraordinary carer support and take advantage of a professional career coaching service.
Applications close on Monday 22 February 2016 at 5pm. For more information, eligibility criteria and the application form, see the 2016 Advancing Women’s Research Success Grant program webpage.
