Simulate and Visualise - New World Technologies for Real World Outcomes

Melbourne's business community will experience first-hand the ideas and technologies that will drive industry into the future during a unique innovation workshop to be held next week.

Attendees at the Simulate and Visualise - New World Technologies for Real World Outcomes workshop will be given a guided tour of Monash University's state-of-the-art biomedical imaging laboratories, and get to hear from experts in the rapidly evolving field of simulation and visualisation.

Presented by the South East Melbourne Innovation Precinct (SEMIP), the half-day workshop will feature leading researchers in the fields of civil and mechanical engineering, mathematical sciences and biomedical imaging.

Event moderator and Professorial Fellow, Innovation and Public Policy at Monash University, Professor Tony Lupton said the workshop would show how business can use new technologies to support forward planning and product or process design and development.

He said the guided tour of the University's laboratories was a great opportunity to see the hardware behind the scientific advances.

"Simulation, visualisation and collaboration can answer the question of how business can get products and services to market with shorter lead times and lower cost," Professor Lupton said.

"As is the case with any emerging technology, it is the businesses and people who understand it and can apply its potential that will reap the benefits."

In addition to a series of presentations from leading researchers, the workshop will include an interactive discussion of the topic "How can simulation and visualisation help me and my business?".

The SEMIP Monash workshop will be held from 8am, Tuesday May 1 at Monash Biomedical Imaging, 770 Blackburn Road Clayton.
