Synopsis: This subject advances students' knowledge of multmedia design principles with a strong emphasis on the development of design solutions tailored to a specific brief. The use of temporal and spatial elements is explored in the context of interactive media. Methods for problem solving multimedia design are examined from the point of view of the end user and design for interactivity. The view of multimedia design as a discipline is expanded through an awareness of the many different genres and applications of multimedia design.

Objectives: On successful completion of this unit, students will: 1.approach the problem-solving of interactive digital media with an inquiring, adventurous and open attitude; 2.understand the roles involved in the production of multimedia; able to use space and time as elements of multimedia; able to produce interactive multimedia elements in electronic documents; able to develop multimedia design solutions in response to a brief ; familiar with the role of the multimedia designer in the multimedia production process; 7.develop multimedia design solutions for a range of different forms of content and users.

Assessment: Three major projects:80% + Minor projects:20%
