Synopsis: Projects requiring research and application in motion graphics, information architecture, self-promotion, on-line corporate identiy design, interactive environments, iconography/interface design, data-driven web design and site specific installation.

Objectives: On successful completion of this unit, students will: 1.approach the problem-solving of interactive digital media and multimedia design with an inquiring, adventurous and open attitude; 2.have an advanced understanding of the language of interactive media and the application of multimedia design principles; able to use metaphor, dynamic structure and narrative as elements of multimedia; able to undertake multimedia design and production at an advanced level; able to develop multimedia design solutions in response to a brief, following standards of practice adopted by the multimedia industry; 6.have an advanced understanding of the role of the multimedia designer in the multimedia production process; 7.analyse the role of interactivity in multimedia design solutions for a range of different forms of content and users; 8.undertake research and application of multimedia design in projects such as motion graphics, information architecture, self-promotion, on-line corporate identity design, interactive environments, iconography / interface design, data-driven web design, and site specific installation.

Assessment: Four major projects: 100%

Contact Hours: 24 hours per week including 8-hours studio and 16 hours of independent study
