Biography

Enayet Chowdhury completed his MBBS from Dhaka Medical College, Bangladesh during 1999 and then did Masters in Public Health (Epidemiology and Biostatistics) from the University of Melbourne, Australia during 2007. Enayet joined the Department of Epidemiology and Preventive Medicine of Monash University, Australia in 2010 as a PhD student.

Enayet has been involved in public health research for the last 16 years. He worked in Bangladesh for more than 8 years with a focus to improve child health including improving sick child management strategies and to incorporate these findings at the policy level. His PhD work focused on the use of blood pressure lowering and its subsequent effect on clinical outcomes including diabetes and kidney function in the elderly hypertensive people as well as cost-effective drug options for treating blood pressure. Data collected in the Second Australian National Blood Pressure study was used in his research.

Enayet is currently working as a Research Fellow in the Centre for Cardiovascular Research and Education (CCRE) in Therapeutics. He has a number of publications in peer-reviewed journals. He also received a number of prizes, scholarships and travel awards during his public health career and have presented his various research findings both nationally and internationally.
