If not staying with a parent or nominated relative, students must choose Homestay, on campus accommodation or, for Monash University Foundation Year (MUFY) students, approved off campus accommodation.
Homestay is a form of accommodation in which a person from overseas lives with a family in a host country and gives reimbursement for the Homestay service. Monash will approve a Homestay arrangement when no more than three students are staying at the accommodation. Where accommodation is provided and rent paid for four or more persons, this is defined as a Rooming House under the Victorian Residential Tenancies Act 1997.
Homestay Accommodation Service (HAS) is the preferred Monash Homestay accommodation provider.
On campus accommodation is available to students under age 18. See Monash Residential Services
Approved off-campus student accommodation is available at Unilodge on A'Beckett St in the city for Monash College students enrolled in the Monash University Foundation Year (MUFY).
In exceptional circumstances, an arrangement outside of designated off campus accommodation or Homestay can be approved. In support of an application for exceptional circumstances, you must provide a letter from your parents, in English or with a certified translation, supporting the proposed accommodation arrangement. After receiving the application, Monash will determine whether approval can be given for the proposed accommodation and welfare arrangement.
