Research Training Program (RTP) Stipend
Research Training Program (RTP) Scholarships, funded by the Australian Government, support both domestic and international students undertaking Research Doctorate and Research Masters degrees at Australian universities.
As part of this program, a RTP Stipend (living allowance) is available to help support students with living costs whilst studying at a Monash Australia campus.
Additionally, the RTP Stipend – Indigenous is specifically available to support Indigenous Australian students. For more details, refer to Monash Indigenous Research Scholarships.

My future seemed uncertain, with no hope of ever going on to higher education before this scholarship. It has changed my life. This scholarship is also available to students undertaking Joint Research Awards when Monash University is the home institution.
Benefits
The RTP Stipend provides:
- a living allowance (stipend), and
- a relocation allowance, if eligible.
There are a number of tuition scholarships available for our international students that can be packaged with this stipend.
Domestic students will automatically be provided with a RTP Fees Offset.
Selection criteria
Monash scholarships are highly competitive and are awarded based on academic excellence, research outputs and prior research experience.
If you are awarded a RTP Stipend, it's important to familiarise yourself with the associated conditions and benefits as outlined in the policy and procedures.
How to apply
Graduate research scholarships applications are submitted at the same time as your course application, unless you are already enrolled. Whether you are a new applicant or a current student, the myApp Portal is used for both course admission and scholarship applications. You do not need to select specific scholarships, eligible applicants are automatically considered for all available graduate research scholarships.
